reversing a little bit...

___I feel like I've lost my voice a bit. I haven't really, truly been excited about anything I've written this whole year (thanks to the life draining forces of senior year), and I feel...blah. I was reading over my old blogs (Modern Dreamer and Inner & Outer Beauty), and it felt like revisiting old friends. Modern Dreamer was an experiment in blogging: me trying to see what sparked comments and what didn't (short posts vs long posts, pictures vs words, fashion vs photography), and Inner & Outer Beauty was like visiting a best friend who made me laugh and sympathize all at once. I can see why Inner & Outer Beauty was a lot more popular than Modern Dreamer...
___I miss being so candid on my blog. I don't really know what exactly I've been doing with The Shoe Corner, but lately I've been going heavy on the pictures and light on the words like I was doing with Modern Dreamer. And it stopped being something enjoyable and became something compulsory. I started worrying about gearing it towards fashion and personal style (which, let's face it, I'm not eccentric or creative enough to become the next Sea of Shoes or Cherry Blossom Girl), and my actual writing was almost like a reiteration of the pictures.
___So, if you've actually been following along with this weird rambling, I'm basically making some changes with my posting. I don't think I'll sound quite as cheesy as I did on Inner & Outer Beauty, but it was fun telling my funny, bitching stories with people. I always knew I'd keep this blog pretty open in terms of subject matter (fashion, beauty, randomness, photography, whatever), and I don't want to get caught up in wondering how to make this blog, which is supposed to a little escape for me, into some kind of business. I'd like to rediscover the voice I was close to finding before life got in the way, and I hope you'll bear with the verbosity that will inevitably ensue until I do. (Don't worry, I'm going to try and keep the pretty pictures going.)

P.S. In case you're wondering why a picture of candy is accompanying a post about me making changes it's because I am still going to try and make sure mainly my photography or the pictures I've captured (from videos or something like that) are used, and this picture was the only fairly new picture I had on my computer!

  11. I know what you mean. I've been having trouble coming up with really good blog posts lately. I feel as if I've been kind of drained as well, and as a result it's harder to come up with material than before.

You'll refind it. =) I'm sure you will. And I can promise that I'll follow along, whatever you do.

  12. I am sorry you feel this way, I can relate to some of your worries. Pleasing yourself, pleasing others may be the toughest thing ever. All I know is that blogging should be fun since it's something we choose to do and should be about finding people that are like you in a way although they live miles away.
For example, I am so glad we got to know each other and talk about kpop and animes and manga. This keeps me going, since I've started blogging I met wonderful people and I consider myself lucky.

    Cheer up.

P.S I've got something to share with you
A story about the lives of kpop idols behind the scenes. http://kpopstory.wordpress.com/

  15. I just recently had a massive overhaul with my blog, I deleted everything, started from scratch and it feels so fresh! I completely recommend doing that, because half the time, even if you have 30000 followers, only 10 are regular readers, and they'll follow you wherever you go - I clearly had NO regulars out of my original 200 haha! Nevermind. Please check out my brand new blog Fashion Stereotype and let me know what you think to it :)

  16. I think that the first rule of blogging is that you have to be passionate & interested in it...otherwise there will be always someone who can do it better (because they ARE passionate and interested). Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with! xo

  17. I've actually been having the same problem, I've relied on pictures for most of my posts because I haven't had the time to sit in front of the computer for awhile. I'm glad you're going to write more - I'm definitely working on it too :)

  18. Having had a 2 week blogging break I realised that I started getting in a certain routine, rhythm which wasn't necessarily for the better of the blog. It seems a lot of bloggers just run around to do the commenting round and we realise that many people don't really take the time/are interested in reading what we've got to say. But hey - I think your writing style is lovely and in the end - it's YOUR blog. So go for it! (I'll stay, for sure ;-)

  20. I used to read Modern Dreamer and I loved it, now that you have the shoe corner, I still love it. I honestly do really like your posts, and I hope that you continue to post whatever comes to mind. I have never come across any posts of yours that I hated, so keep doing your thing! :):)

  22. I completely understand what you mean. I think that we all go through periods like this, and I'm glad that you're going to try and make your blog more you. When I look at my old blog posts I see that I've changed drastically compared to when I started my blog, but I think it takes time to find that perfect combination that is right for you. Even if you end up not getting that many readers, at least your blog will be you, not something you made just to get comments.

  23. i hope you can find your "voice" again! I really do think that the best blog posts come when you're not trying to fulfill an expectation but its purely your own thinking and inspiration!
