___Let's look at some pretty shoes while I get serious for a hot minute, kay? That way any of you who prefer to simply look at pictures (which I have nothing against, really, pictures are worth a 1000 words after all. And I know I can be verbose) can get a nice shoe porn post. And not be shocked by how different I tend to sound when I get annoyed.
___Maybe it's the end of the year senior syndrome (a different strain of senioritis) that has been making me extra irritable. But it seems a
ton of things are bothering the hell out of me lately. On a small scale it's my school administration's total corruption. They have decided to award themselves an 8-16% increase in a quick, hushed school board meeting. Oh, and my vice principal, who is a straight up homie g to all the idiots who wind up in her office every other week, just purchased herself $8,000 furniture. I think my parents furnished my whole first floor for less, just pointing that out. Meanwhile teacher salaries are frozen, our sports uniforms could have been worn by our parents when they were our age, and our school is simply "too poor" to do many things.
___On a larger scale... America's capitalist system fucking
blows.
Parade magazine issued its annual income ranges. Since when does a CEO of Wells Fargo make 18.7 million? For what --being a pain in the ass to all his employees? And this just brings light to how out of hand the
Twilight craze has gotten: Stephenie Meyers made $50 million this year. As much as James Cameron, director of
Avatar. More than Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Johnny Depp, and Kanye West. I mean props to Meyers for cashing in big time of the Twi-fanatics, but still! The only not sickening part about reading some of these ridiculous salaries? At least Snookie ala Jersey Shore isn't rollin' in the cash; she's only made about $2,200 this year.
___I know, I know. You're probably thinking: that's life, it's just how things are, and it's how it's always going to be. It's what my mom told me when I told her about school. And it's what everyone always tells me when I get angry around my friends. But I beg to differ. I say right now, we all have the ability to make a change with this world. And no matter how tough or how silly we may seem, we must always fight against what we think is wrong. Going against the grain is
not just a teen angst thing. If we sit back and close ourselves into our own little worlds, we let CEO's like John Stumpf manage to give himself $18.7 million yearly while we struggle to find jobs in this economy or get diddly squat when our FASFA forms are sent in.
____So put on a killer pair of shoes (like the ones show here, obviously), walk the streets of your life, question the authority around you, and represent yourself as an intelligent, strong individual. Never, ever stop fighting for what you believe in.

I love the top shoes
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you still have the energy (and intelligence) to be angry about the unfairness in this world. Mrs Meyer's and Co. income seems quite perverse (especially since I don't find her a very gifted writer and all her ideas are copies from Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris' stories). Oh well, let's put on a pair of killer heels and kick some a...
ReplyDeleteOhmigosh I love you for this post. I think that I'll put All Time Low's "Hello Brooklyn" on to serve as my theme song as I head out to question authority. Love it!! :)
ReplyDeleteahhhh im loving all these shoes xxx
ReplyDeletewow the second pair of boots are sooo cute!!! You have great taste!! lol I love all of the ones featured here!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are wonderful but your words are more powerful. Indeed we all have the ability to make a change in the world, but the truth is, most people really don't care much, am so glad you do. I shall continue to fight the good fight in a pair of sexy heels. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat Snookie figure...where did they get it from? She gets paid more than that for making nightclub appearances, or so I've read.
ReplyDeleteI love how you equate shoes with your feelings... I agree, never stop fighting for what you truly believe. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhenever I read stuff like this about the immensely big gap between the rich and poor, I an vaguely reminded of the French Revolution. When the Royalty and the Court were living in Golden Palaces and flaunting their wealth to people starving with Poverty.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying over these photos - such gorgeous shoes! I want them all!!
ReplyDeleteWhat?! I'm so sorry to hear about that. I have to agree, fight for what you think is right. Don't just sit there and let the effin school system abuse you.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
PS,
Love the shoe porn.
Thank you for the gorgeous shoe porn, and the words of wisdom. The last paragraph is fantastic and I am a believer for standing up for what you believe in. If things are corrupt in this world, we have been blessed with the power of opinion... we can change things!@
ReplyDeletethe last one is my favorite, really love it !
ReplyDeleteWell said. And why not look good while you're at it right? :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous post, darling!
ReplyDeleteThose studded boots are amazing!
xoxox,
CC
great advice! :)
ReplyDeleteoh those top shoes are amazing but look a little painful!
ReplyDelete@ Clare: the French Revolution? You must remember that the elite were taxing the people for their great wealth. Capitalism is completely different. People who are smart enough, and more importantly, dedicated and work hard are rewarded accordingly. Redistribution of wealth is ruinous. The figures certainly get ridiculous (especially for movies stars, in my opinion!), but if wasn't worth it to us, we would buy!
ReplyDeleteAnd those fringe boots? Hot! :)
