oh, those lazy days

We all have those days. Those days when we simply do not feel like putting on our best dress, slipping into a gorgeous but killer pair of heels, and fussing with our unmanageable hair. We really just want to throw on the coziest of our sweats, toss our hair back and out of our faces, wear flip-flops, and call it a day. Alas, fashion is not an uncompromising force, and we can rest assured that there are alternatives to the beautiful yet uncomfortable styles. A few minimal steps and you can easily look stylish and be cozy.

Step One: Choose Clothes {shopbop,h&m,forever21}
Clothes are the most important part, obviously. There are two very simple options when it comes to choosing an outfit. I find dresses can be the easiest thing to throw on in the morning. You have a full outfit in under a minute. Simply look for dresses that you can breath in, that don't hug too tightly, and are generally breezy and easy to slip on and off.

Or, if you, like many of my friends, have an abhorrence to dresses, do not fret for there is an alternative for you as well! Behold the harem pant, a loose fitting alternative to the regular pant. It feels like throwing on a pair of sweatpants, but far more stylish. Do not fret about the "trendiness" of this style, for there are different degrees of crotch dropping, and with correct styling, you will not look as though you've pooped your pants. A simple fitted tee and maybe a vest to pull it all together, and you're done and done.

Step Two: Slip into some flats
This is not the time to try and force yourself into a pair of heels, but it is also not a time to throw on a pair of sneakers or other hideous foot attire (And yes I mean Crocs, Uggs, and any other questionable footwear). Flats are the easiest way to look dressy, but still keep the comfort factor high. Of course, this depends on the type of flats you own. Many a pair can grow uncomfortable. While I don't have tips on how to prevent this, I do know that I've never had an issue with Charlotte Russe or Payless flats myself.

3. Hair
Hair is always the hardest part, isn't it? Getting that perfect bedhead look is near impossible. Do not fret, though, for hair can be easy. Frizzy hair? Braid it ala Wang. Too short? A straightener goes a long way. I prefer my old Helen of Troy straightener, as it is thick and quick, even when my hair is impossible. And if all else fails, simply wrap your hair up into a ponytail or a messy bun.

Viola! Hopefully your lazy day does not appear to be as lazy as you feel.

  1. I love your tips. I also have my lazy days when I can't seem to have the urge to dress up, not even wear a simple dress. But you are right, we have to put some effort even during lazy days. I love the idea of flats. And I still wish I can braid my hair ala Wang. xoxo

  11. I've been quite lazy with my fashion lately! I often put my hair in a bun when I should be styling it. Thanks for the reminder! I love love dresses though.
