Suffice to say, Valentines' Day was an extremely depressing day for me. Not only did I not have a significant other to share it with, I spent the whole day at a pool. And, on top of this, I didn't swim well and I didn't eat a proper meal all day until 9:30 at night. And even more, my friends who did have boyfriends on the swim team, were pleasantly surprised by said boys showing up with gifts.
As in, homemade cookies, flowers, big stuffed animals, balloons, etc. Lovely.
But, today is a new day, and I shall not dwell on yesterday. Rather I think, I'll celebrate the wonderful boys I know. They may have their dumb moments, and they may be hopelessly a tad immature, but they really are nice guys who know how to treat their girlfriends properly on the most loving and most depressing (depending on your marital status) day of the year.
Have you an sweet lovey, makes you wanna barf stories to share?

So, my one friend and her boyfriend have been having slight issues. What does he do on Vday? He (tries) to surprise her with showing up at our meet. With what? A big, huge stuffed animal, a balloon, flowers in her favorite color, and truffles. And he stays to watch her swim the whole meet.
My other friend surprised his girlfriend with a scavenger hunt. He placed clues at all our friends houses (sadly I could not help out!) that led her to the park where he was waiting for her with a figurine of Cinderella & Prince Charming.
And my other friend surprised his girlfriend at our meet with a 3lb Hershey heart, pink roses, and homemade sugar cookies, with icing. (And trust me, he has trouble with T and t, so it took him time).
Have you an sweet lovey, makes you wanna barf stories to share?
Ohh, but don't worry, your Valentines Day will come! I/we don't do V-Day, finding it slightly tacky, but I had a great time wishing everyone a good one, which made me feel rather romantic...
ReplyDeleteI wish that you lived in MI! There are so many sweet guys here that are GOOD guys that really deserve to meet a smart, pretty, funny witty girl like you. (I have some friends from school that are 17-19) and they are going through the same thing as you. I am sorry that your day was so crummy. :(
ReplyDeleteLovely cupcakes...
ReplyDeleteToday is another day... yesterday was history. Glad you made it through Vday. Happy Monday sweetie. xoxo
ReplyDeletesorry you didnt have a greay Vday..

aw it's alright! now when you do find your valentine, it'll be extra special. i like to consider valentine's day as "love" day and that way everyone i love is my valentine! haha. :)
ReplyDeleteand that second picture is my favorite (they are so gorgeousss).
Very sweet stories, darling!
ReplyDeleteBut I totally empathize with you being single on V-day!
xoxox,
CC
aw well at least that day is now over, hope you have a good week :)
ReplyDeleteSo this is aggravating...all those stories about what your friends did for their girlfriends makes me envious. I want a cute boy!! :)
ReplyDeleteLol I always thought V-Day was a family holiday growing up because we always spent it as a family together. I didn't know until like High School that it was a day for lovers. Then i started hating it :)
ReplyDeletethat sounds horrible. barf is right.
ReplyDeleteI always loved vday because with my friends and I it's just about all kinds of love. We make each other presents and my aunt and I compete to see who can send each other the most cards. My favorite this year said "i've known since seventh grade that i wanted a woman like you . . . one with boobies!" hahahahahahha
ReplyDeleteeven my friends who have boyfriends have more fun with our gift exchanges because let's face it, girls generally have better taste than teenage boys
I've never really bought into the V-day thing whether I had a guy at my side or not. I'm still convinced it's invented by Hallmark so they have another excuse to sell more cards. Don't know any barf stories unfortunately... most people I know just have a nice dinner and receive flowers!
ReplyDeleteI won't share my barf story with you but am glad that you can still share in romance through some lovely pictures...if it makes you feel better BK doesn't like V-day very much and it's pretty much an effort for him to think of it rather than any other day. Well I heart you darlin!
ReplyDeleteWow. I can't say I'm into huge romantic gestures, but those were *really* grand gestures! Its sweet for someone who is into that kind of stuff.
ReplyDeleteand don't be depressed, its a made up holiday!
