those certain friends...

I don't know about you guys, but I have friends in my life who have their own special category. They certainly aren't mere acquaintances, though I sometimes see them less than those I do label as such. I don't know that best friends is quite the correct term, given they don't quite fit that definition (though does anyone really fit it?!). And they definitely aren't just friends.

I have friends like this, three to be exact. I see two of them fairly often, and tonight was the first time I've seen one of them in over a year. And while I love the two I see often and we get along just fine, something clicks when we're all together (though my one friend wasn't there tonight) that I just know holds its own special place in the world of friendships. And tonight after being with them all together made me feel truly at ease and happy at the same time.
It is a formula that works so well, and it is one of those things in life there is no point in analyzing or wondering how. It just is. And it is the perfect reminder as to why friends do not even need labels. These three girls I have considered important in my life since seventh grade. I may not see them constantly. They may not even know half the people in my life. We may not shout out "Besties!" to each other, and we spend less time together than I do with awkward relatives I barely know. But I do know that when we are together, we never stop talking and laughing. We are never critical of each other, and we always have the right things to say. Somehow.
And after a rough time, it's nice to have these meetings with people like these friends to remind you that no, you're terrible, and yes, there are people you can trust easily.
