Elie Saab is a designer that never fails to disappoint me. Ever since I discovered him as the designer behind the beautiful gowns in
Enchanted, I've been in love with his runway shows. I always tend to visit his store in the outlets near me, looking at the impeccable pieces that are forever out of my price range in longing.
His spring couture collection is my favorite yet. Perhaps because the fludity of the gowns, the beauty of the details, and softness apparent in the hair and make-up all make me think of mermaids and the other fantasies the ocean tends to bring. The models themselves even look as though they're walking on water.

What if someone were to recreate
The Little Mermaid in the similar style that Burton is recreating
Alice in Wonderland? These gowns would mesh perfectly into Ariel's transformation into a human. I can just picture it now... a beautiful actress with bright auburn locks donning each of these gowns as she transforms into a princess. Not to mention a handsome actor like Tom Sturridge or Nicholas Hoult (or perhaps older?) portraying Prince Eric.

Perhaps this would be her first dress? A pale buttery yellow gown would look lovely as she sits in the grand dining room for the first time, sun streaming through the huge windows, accidentally combing her hair with a fork.
Totally gorgeous!

wow, these designs are drop dead gorgeous! The colors remind me of a more refined "disney princess" palette & are so beautifully ornate.
ReplyDeleteP.S. you won the giveaway on my blog! send me an email with your contact info :) xoxo
OMG: Tom Sturridge as Eric!! How perfect. I love these dresses: they're all so magical and definitely perfect for the Little Mermaid. I actually want Tim Burton to do adaptations of all the disney princess movies: I think he would do a magnificant job.
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely want the last gown to be my dream wedding gown! How I wish!!
ReplyDeleteDream-like! I wouldn't mind a wedding dress like this...

Wow, these gowns are stunning, I agree, that last photo is the perfect mermaid wedding dress ;) That braid in the first photo is enviable and I would attempt it if only I knew how!
ReplyDeleteI think Saab makes the most beautiful princess dresses, but without making them look too much like cupcakes ;-) It's the perfect blend of elegance and fairy-like charm. I saw some of her dresses in an exhibition once and the details were truly amazing. I had no idea the Enchanted outfits were his as well, but that doesn't really come as a surprise!
ReplyDeletelove them all but especially the last 3.
