___As much as I'd love to say I've been reading voraciously these past months, I can only boast one or two novels that have been finished. I've started my senior research paper book, Middlemarch, and I have come to see it as quite an ambitious book for a paper. Not that the length or the language hinders me, but rather some of the material. There are characters I love reading about (Mary Garth, the Brookes) that make the novel flow by and then there are characters I find so incredibly dull and a bit irritating (Lydgate, Bulstrode).
__But reading is not what I want to discuss here. Instead of time spent reading, I have been viewing some rather interesting movies as of late. So, I have compiled a few scenarios for each movie.

The Date Movie{Valentine's Day}- A very funny, super sweet, and surprisingly touching, this movie is perfect for a date movie. Both sexes will enjoy it, laughter will ensue, and the general message of love will keep you and your date feeling happy and content. No horror aspects to rattle your composure, overly sappy romance to make him start texting or you crying, and no highly sexual jokes to make both you feel a tad uncomfortable. PS Julia Robert's story line is my absolute favorite.
The Girl's Night Movie{Nine} Boys not allowed. This is definitely a girls' movie with sultry songs, glamorous cinematography, and wonderful acting. It's perfect for a night with the girls while giving each other pedicures and gossiping over the latest news. All actresses will surprise with their singing ability and wonderful acting. What more can be asked from the likes of Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, etc? Oh and Fergie's scene really is that amazing, Kate Hudson's song is so catchy, and Sophia Loren is as gorgeous as ever.
The Poor Man's Day After Tomorrow Movie{2012}- Just saw this tonight. While it isn't horrible and the effects are insane, it's simply another cliched filled apocalyptic movie. There's the man to stand up for humanity, John Cusack miraculously survives alot, the divorced couple reunites after former spouse dies, children (always children), and a ton of stupid decisions that if not made could have saved an hour off of this two and a half hour movie. Maybe I'm being picky, but I was just annoyed half the time with how many cliches there are.
The Me Day Movie {Confessions of a Shopaholic} Not nearly as insanely amazing as its novel counterpart(s), it is quite entertaining and funny on its own. Fashion loving abound and Hugh Dancy make for a lovely movie to watch while having a day to yourself. Perfect elements of chick flick cheesiness and goofy comedy. Though I do recommend picking up the books if you want even more, even better. I mean, to start, she's British in the books...

ReplyDeleteI completely agree, love all of those movies :)
ReplyDeleteLoved Valentine's Day, and I also loved Julia Roberts' story line in that too. It was so sweet. (Although I didn't see Bradley Cooper's story coming though, haha)
ReplyDeleteLove your choices, darling!
ReplyDeleteFun flicks!

I was going to catch Valentines Day but never got the chance. 2012 is out on DVD so I might check that out at some point. I agree with the Shopaholic movie.... loved the books, but I hated the fact they made her a New Yorker, although Isla Fisher was cute in the movie.
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I believe that Me Day Movies are the best - mine always consist of The Virgin Suicides, The Princess Diaries, Marie Antoinette, The Devil WEars Prada, and Ella Enchanted!! :)
ReplyDeletewhat a fab post and lovely movie suggestion for each scenario!

ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of the movies, but I understand how you feel about the book. I've been reading Tolstoy's Anna Karenina for weeks now... Parts I love, and other parts just keep dragging on (sometimes I wonder if I should just have a little light reading in-between... Oh blasphemy!).
ReplyDeletei want to see Nine!! but my bf doesn't want to so we never did in theatre!! perhaps i'll rent it now that he's gone for work hehe
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I want to see Nine as well. But not until it comes out on Netflix :)
