goodbye, skins generation 2

__That's it! There shall be no more of Tomo, Freddie, Katie, Emily, Effy, JJ, Cook, Panda, or Naomi (Unless those movie rumors are true...) and next series shall give way to a brand new gang of Roundview college students. While I'm sad to see this gang go, I am relieved series four is finally over. Not to mention the finale ending completely and totally sucked. Let's go slowly shall we? Considering each episode was more like a mini movie, rather than an episode of a TV series, let's go by characters...
___Emily and Naomi.. Well Naomi didn't even have her own episodes, and she was definitely one of my favorites. I was really annoyed to see that there really was no coverage the first two episodes, and than WHAM the whole Sophia suicide crap comes in the third episode, and these two aren't together until the last ten minutes of the finale. Besides the fact that the whole Sophia stuff was dropped half way through and completely unnecessary, it forced these two apart again and in an insanely awkward way... (And, yes, btw I'm totally a Naomily fan. They're just so ridiculously adorable together!) I do have to say the whole speech at the end was very, very sweet, though.
___JJ's episode was so, so cute. I love JJ and his super weird ways. But, its placement did not flow at all (smack dab in the middle of Effy and Freddie's episodes?!) and seemed more like a buffer episode than anything else. I am glad JJ got Lara, and they were super cute, and the ending scene with space and everything was so adorable. But, like I said, filler episode.
___Cook! As much as he repulsed me in the beginning of the third series, I actually kind of love him now. And I kind of thought he and Effy had way more chemistry than her and Freddie. I definitely didn't like how odd his placement in this series was, and the whole jail, escape jail thing worked... And of course the end of the finale was ridiculous and so, so stupid. I mean, I don't need everything tied up in a bow, but that ending, seriously? __And of course the whole Freddie and Effy thing was just so forced. And then what happened to Freddie was awful. It was kind of just melodrama... I just didn't feel the "passion" or whatever involved. Maybe I've become cynical?
___Thomas and Pandora! So adorable together, and yet they too were apart for the whole series. I actually really hated Thomas's whole episode. It was just annoying and irritating... And their scholarships to Harvard were just... funny. Cute that they'll end up together in university, but obviously unrealistic.
___I quite liked her episode. Katie is one of my favorites, she's totally hilarious. And "I'm Katie Fucking Fitch, who the fuck are you?" was the best line of the season! I do enjoy that she became more human as well, and her and Effy sort of became friends.
___Of course, my favorite scene ever through the whole series was the one above. Karen was hilarious, and I wish she had been more of a main character. I loved her lines in the last episode and it was so sweet how much she really cared for Freddie.
So thoughts on the final series of the second generation?

  5. katie and cook are my favorite characters, but i think kaya does such a good job playing effy! i didn't like their storyline for effy this season, though. i wish they had made her become an adult instead of just going crazy. there wasn't a ton of character development. and the whole freddie murder thing was sickening! and it didn't make sense either . . . they fit too much into one episode.

  8. I absolutely agree with you - The finale was really disappointing, everything became way too overdramatic. The beauty of skins was that it was so normal, so real, but the storyline was way too dramatic. I could imagine that the chemistry between Cook and Effie was better because the went out in 'real life', too.
    Roll on new Skins!
