leave it to music to make you smile

___I've been having a pretty crappy summer lately (not that I didn't plan for this). It's too ridiculously hot to lifeguard; my "job" is a totally unprofessional environment; and my days have started at 6:30 am every morning for practice. I'm exhausted, worn down, and ready for August to come so I can fully relax. And, on top of all this, my poor face is recovering from a massive peeling, so it looks like I have a disease, and my hair is a dead, frizzy mess! My outer appearance is basically reflecting my exhaustion. (Read: No outfit pictures for probably a while!)
___But leave it to music make me smile for a full four minutes and to feel insanely happy all at once. I'm not one to listen to slow songs or sad songs because I generally don't want to feel down when I'm in a good mood or even worse when I'm a sad mood. I love listening to happy, sweet songs that bring a smile to my face and take me away for a few minutes. Cue "No Other" by Super Junior. No secret I'm a huge fan, and this music video is absolutely adorable. It shows all the guys setting up something cute to show their love for a girl, and, basically, all males should watch this for proper tips in impressing a girl. I'm personally a fan of the wall heart, but Kyuhyun is a part of that, and I'm a tad biased towards him!
___And don't worry if you don't understand Korean, because I definitely don't at all. You don't need to know the language to be cheered by this video!

obsessions du jour

___I'm basically on a money ban right now to save for college, so I've been avoiding looking at new collections for all my favorite stores (though I keep running across H&M's new items, and I'm dying!) But all this saving has left me with some pretty major obsessions...

This H&M Dress..
Seriously, the length, cut, color, sleeves... everything is perfection!

Super Junior
Or, Super Junior's Kyuhyun more specifically. I know I'm about one of a million fans world wide, but I can see why they're so popular in Korea. They are just ADORABLE. And Kyu is my favorite. I'm in love, I've decided. And it does sadden me about SM Entertainment's treatment of them, and the dwindling number from 13 to 11 (or 10 now).

This Luphia Dress...
Mentioned this before about being my weight loss dress. First time seeing it on someone other than the model, and my desire for it has only increased!

Travel
My wander lust is in overload. How can it not be with one friend on the beaches of the Caribbean and another roaming the paths of Vienna? I only have my trip to Italy and Greece under my travel check list! I'm currently talking to this girl who has just been in Taiwan on an internship over the summer, so who knows! Attempting to take my dreams to reality (wow that sounded cheesy).

What are your obsessions right now?

sun-kissed skin so hot will melt your popsicle

___Katy Perry is finally out with a new music video. It seems like forever since "Waking Up in Vegas" was made. I feel dating Russell Brand has made her a little more crude in her humor (or maybe it's just because I haven't seen her videos in a while?), and her image is transforming from flirty and retro to straight up outrageous and cartoonish. As evident in "California Girls," which is less a tribute to the golden coast and more about a sexed up Candy Land with huge cupcake tops, whipped cream spray guns (from the boobs of course), and a naked Katy Perry lying around in the clouds. Oh and a Gummy Bear giving the finger, which was actually kind of hilarious. While I'm still on the fence about the video itself (I would have much preferred a video set on the beach with some pretty cool and wacky retro costumes), I absolutely love the song, definitely on my summer play list.
Thoughts on Katy Perry's return video?

dear taylor swift,

Don't listen to those stupid critics who decided to try and slam you for everything during your Grammy performance and appearance this year. They are simply dumbstruck and slightly jealous of your success. Just because you are young, you are very human, and simple does not mean your success is unnatural. If you were just a teen sensation then you would be nothing but a fleeting face on the music industry. Clearly there is something special about you, and no amount of negativity can dimmer the admiration and recognition you are receiving.
You've come quite a long way from your very first award show where everyone knew you were so nervous, you could barely since "Tim McGraw." Congratulations on singing with Stevie Nicks; your fans know you are not the strongest live singer, and in fact your talent lies more in your writing abilities than your singing anyway. Keep being funny and keep relating to your fans, it's why we love you so much.
Love, S.Elisabeth

PS Your dress was beautiful on the red carpet, the fashion police are idiots.
PPS You 100% deserved those Grammys, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
PPSS Can't wait to see you in concert this March!
